The goals of biomesh.org are to:

1. Bridge technical gaps between biologists and engineers by providing knowledge and training in finite element modeling and analysis of complex biological structures.

2. Provide resources to the biological community in the form of finite element models, a material properties database, and software tools.


3. Promote the integration of biology and engineering by facilitating research, education, and outreach.

Workshops

The first annual “FEA in Biology” workshop was held from June 9th-16th, 2007 on the University of Massachusetts, Amherst campus. Ten workshop particpants learned the methods we use to rapidly generate and analyze detailed 3D finite element models of complex biological structures from stacks of 2D images.
